Job Description
The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for launching and overseeing the entire warehouse operation, including managing all aspects of warehouse activities such as receiving, storing, and dispatching goods. This role involves leading the recruitment and training of warehouse staff, developing warehouse layouts and workflows, implementing inventory control systems, ensuring safety and compliance standards, and optimizing efficiency to meet organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute the launch of a new warehouse facility, including the design and layout of the warehouse space.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely completion of the warehouse setup
- Establish the necessary infrastructure, including storage systems, racking, material handling equipment, and IT systems
- Lead the recruitment process for warehouse staff, including supervisors, inventory controllers, and warehouse operatives
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and dispatching of goods
- Ensure efficient and accurate inventory management, including regular cycle counts and stock audits
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize warehouse productivity and minimize errors
- Implement and manage inventory control systems to track inventory levels, orders, deliveries, and shipments
- Monitor and analyze inventory data to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stock discrepancies
- Oversee the scheduling and routing of shipments to meet customer delivery requirements
- Ensure that all warehouse activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain the integrity of goods during storage and shipment.
- Provide leadership and direction to the warehouse team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities for team members.
- Prepare and manage the warehouse budget, including labor, equipment, and operational expenses.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures to achieve budgetary goals.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, lifting, and operating material handling equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in warehouse management, including launching and setting up new warehouse operations.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and logistics processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management software.
